Our Water Use & Quality programs address key water resource issues facing Georgia and much of the southeastern Coastal Plain. The water quantity programs address the use of surface and ground waters for supplemental irrigation and range from statistically quantifying water used for irrigation by Georgia farmers to developing variable rate irrigation systems.
The water quality programs' focus is on measuring, modeling, and limiting environmental impacts. This includes developing the tools for predicting how future agricultural production systems will affect water quality on a landscape scale. Projects range from quantifying the water quality benefits of precision agriculture to demonstrating the water quality benefits of riparian forest buffers.
